【Crossing the Amazon River Pert2】To a village deep in the Amazon. What vital perspective on life did the village chief impart?

Amazon River Series, Part Two.

They go to villages where local people live their daily lives, rather than to managed Amazon tourist destinations.

Whatever he does, Joe is cool.

They visit a local home. The kitchen is spotless, and the crockery is colourful and neatly stored.

After being shown around the house, they interact with the people who live there.

The people living in the Amazon do not know how old they are. They can live without knowing.

【Piggy’s Point】A culture that does not place value on counting time is surely one of the important values we modern people have forgotten.

The people living in the Amazon all seem to live on the bare minimum and appear quite happy.

They proceed to the village headman’s house to pay their respects.

JOE asked the village chief, ‘What do you hold dear?’
The village chief replied:
‘We hold the forest dear. I myself feel I am part of the forest, and I live here.’

【Piggy’s Point】 Piggy thought that we modern people are no different. We too are part of the Earth. Therefore, the idea of “owning and monopolising more for oneself alone” is simply unthinkable.

Next, they headed to a local primary school and interacted with the children.

Next time: They shall set out to gather the legendary medicinal herb.
